SINGAPORE (CNI)--BASF and Royal Dutch Shell Group have renamed their two styrene monomer and propylene oxide joint ventures (SM/PO) in Europe and Asia, CNI was informed Friday.
The first SM/PO venture, Basell CV, in Moerdijk, the Netherlands, will now be called Ellba CV. The second, Basell Eastern Pte Ltd here, which has an SM/PO plant under construction on Jurong Island, will now be called Ellba Eastern Pte Ltd.
The name change is needed to avoid confusion and to differentiate the SM/PO business from Basell CV, the holding company within the recently-formed polyolefins joint venture between Shell and BASF, BASF said in a release.
