LONDON (CNI)--French engineering contractor Technip said Thursday it has won a turnkey contract, worth $100m (Euro111m), to design and build a phosphatic fertiliser complex in Catalao, Goias state, Brazil.

The complex, which is due onstream at the end of 2002, will be located near a phosphate mine operated by Copebras at Ouvidor. It will include:

  • A 1350 tonne/day (approximately 445 500 tonne/year) sulphuric acid unit, plus cogeneration system and utilities.
  • A 370 tonne/day (122 000 tonne/year) phosphoric acid (P205 grade) unit, with fluorine recovery.
  • A 1200 tonne/day (396 000 tonne/year) single superphosphate (SSP)/triple superphosphate (TSP) unit.
  • An SSP/TSP/di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) granulation unit.

Technip's Brazilian affiliate, Krebs Engenharia, will be responsible for basic and detailed engineering, equipment supply, construction and start-up, with support from Technip's engineering centre in Paris.

Copebras is a member of the Anglo American group, which specialises in the development of minerals and natural resources.
