HOUSTON (CNI)--Nova Chemical's new Canadian 453 000 tonne/year polyethylene (PE) plant in Joffre, Alberta, is operating in start-up mode and "minor mechanical issues are being addressed," CNI was told Tuesday.
The plant successfully produced polymer product last month, a spokesman for the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania company said.
At the same time, Nova's 1.27m tonne/year ethylene plant in Joffre, a joint venture with Dow Chemical, ran at 80% during the first quarter because of poor market conditions, Nova said.
