Tosoh names Tashiro chairman and Tsuchiya president

SINGAPORE (CNI)--Japan's Tosoh Corporation has named Madoka Tashiro as chairman.

Tashiro will retain his responsibilities as chief executive officer but relinquish his position as president, the diversified global chemical and specialty materials company said in a statement.

Takashi Tsuchiya will replace Tashiro as president and also assume the post of chief operating officer (COO) of Tosoh. He has been a Tosoh employee for more than 30 years and is currently the senior managing director and head of corporate strategy and planning.

The changes will take effect on 28 June 2001.

Tashiro said that Tsuchiya has been a strong driving force in Tosoh's business restructuring, particularly since joining the company's corporate strategy and planning department in 1991. "The crucial role he has played in strengthening the company's vinyl chain and the speciality group has led the company's profitability to improve significantly," he added.

Tosoh told CNI that the management changes were routine as Japanese corporations were required to make such changes at regular intervals.
