Shell Canada has been fined Can$240 000 ($155 249), after pleading guilty to emitting a mixture of hydrogen sulphide,other sulphur compounds, and light hydrocarbons from its Sarnia manufacturing centre at Corunna, Ontario, on 16 March last year. A nearby industrial site was closed down, and evacuated. Some workers were treated for eye and throat irritations, nausea and vomiting.
