Aspen Technology is pulling all its offerings to the process industries under a single umbrella brand: ProfitAdvantage. This, it says, will emphasise that it offers solutions along producers' entire value chain, from supply of raw materials, through manufacturing, to delivery of final products.
Rainer Gawlick, senior vice president of marketing, told ECN the move had been made because AspenTech has been widening its offering to customers, and wanted to reflect the new emphasis on maximising profit opportunities.
ProfitAdvantage encompasses engineering, manufacturing, supply chain and e-business offerings, 'in an integrated solution', he added. He sees ProfitAdvantage working in three main time domains: long-term, through asset optimisation; medium-term, in value chain planning, and near-term, in manufacturing execution.
It replaces the previous enterprise optimisation offering, which has been surpassed largely through AspenTech's addition of buy-side and sell-side e-business packages. 'The emphasis is not so much on technology now, as business process solutions for customers', he explains.
Gawlick calculates that producers can boost revenues by 3-5%, reduce operating costs by 5-10% and cut capital expenditures by 15% by implementing AspenTech's integrated suite of offerings.
'Over three-quarters of our customers are in this range', says Gawlick, who cites Westlake as one example where revenues were boosted by no less than 9%, via increased throughput, better product quality and more on spec material, as well as higher average selling prices.
