GLAXOSMITHKLINE (GSK) is planning to sell an active ingredients plant at Montrose, Angus, Scotland, as part of the restructuring of its manufacturing operations in the UK. A prospective new owner will be expected to continue to supply GSK with active ingredients under a long-term contract.

SOLVAY is planning to take over Cova Products of the UK, which has a global business in plastic laminates. In an exchange deal with Cova owner Langbein-Pfanhauser Werke (LPW) of Germany, Solvay has also signed a letter of intent to sell its plastics decoration operation to LPW.

PLIVA, the Croatian pharmaceuticals company, is buying for á50 million ($43 million) Degussa's pharmaceuticals affiliate AWD.pharma, Dresden, Germany. AWD is part of Degussa's Asta Medica pharmaceuticals subsidiary, which it is aiming to divest completely by the end of the year.
