Schenectady International Inc. USA has purchased Solutia Inc.'s adhesive resins product line in Wiesbaden, Germany, for an undisclosed sum.The privately held, family owned Schenectady is not purchasing Solutia's manufacturing plant, just the product line and its formulations. Solutia will cease production at its plant in Wiesbaden, and Schenectady will start production and sales administration at its performance resin site in Bethune (Nord Pas de Calais), France, later this year. The deal involves resins based on alkylphenols and terpenes. These are sold as components of solvent-based polychloroprene adhesives.
