Shandong Qilu Petrochemical plans to debottleneck its 600 000 tonne/year PVC plant in Shandong, China, by 200 000 tonne/year, ACN was told.

The extra capacity is expected to come onstream in 2003-04.

The Chinese major is carrying out the expansion in view of increasing demand for PVC in northern China, where provinces such as Shandong and Liaoning have seen rapid growth in the plastics industry .
