LONDON (CNI)--German chemicals giant BASF has teamed up with two compounding firms, Albis Plastic and A Schulman, to serve smaller companies which order via its Internet sales portal for thermoplastic resins.
BASF said Monday said that with immediate effect, orders for "non-bulk" quantities of engineering plastics placed via the portal will be redirected to the Albis/Schulman website. The purchaser can choose which supplier to order from there, it added.
Albis Plastic is based in Hamburg, Germany while Schulman is based in Meudon-La-Foret, France.
So far this year, BASF has sold plastic resins worth over Euro160m ($135m) via the Internet sales portal. The portal was launched in December 2000.
