HOUSTON (CNI)--DuPont said Tuesday it is in the process of restarting its 255 000 tonne/year vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) facility at LaPorte, Texas following a week-long outage for maintenance work.

Amy Hodges, a spokeswoman for DuPont's Texas operations, told CNI today that the plant was taken off-line on Monday, 27 August, for scheduled maintenance.

She said the plant is being restarted today and that DuPont officials at LaPorte, located 20 miles southeast of Houston on Galveston Bay, expect the facility to be fully operational by late today or sometime Wednesday.
