Sadly, other companies also suffered losses. Lisa Raines, senior vice-president of government relations at Genzyme, was aboard American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon, and Thomas E. Burnett, senior vice-president and COO of Thoratec Corp. was on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed outside Pittsburgh.
