Life Sciences Lose Key People in Attack

The aftershocks of the events of September 11th are reverberating throughout the life sciences industry. Lion Bioscience disclosed that Klaus J. Sprockamp, the company's CFO and COO, was attending a meeting in the upper floors of the World Trade Center at the time of the attack and remains unaccounted for. Sadly, other companies also suffered losses. Lisa Raines, senior vice-president of government relations at Genzyme, was aboard American Airlines Flight 77 that crashed into the Pentagon, and Thomas E. Burnett, senior vice-president and COO of Thoratec Corp. was on United Airlines Flight 93 that crashed outside Pittsburgh.
