MONTE CARLO (Monaco)--Atofina, the chemicals division of Franco-Belgian energy group TotalFinaElf, expects to bring the second line of its 60 000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS) project in Carling, France onstream early next year, according to a company source.
The first 30 000 tonne/year line is due onstream in November, with test runs beginning in early- to mid-October, he told CNI here at the European Petrochemical Association (EPCA) meeting on Monday.
PS production at Carling will reach 210 000 tonne/year when the second line comes onstream. Atofina will supply the new PS lines from its approximately 330 000 tonne/year styrene plant at the site.
