SINGAPORE (CNI)--PolyMirae, the polypropylene (PP) joint venture between South Korea's Daelim Industrial and Europe's Basell, will shut its three polypropylene (PP) lines at Yeochun, South Korea, later this month and in November for routine maintenance.

The No 1 and No 2 lines will be closed in late October for 10-15 days and the No 3 line will be shut down in early November for 10 days. The total capacity of the three lines is 450 000 tonne/year.

And Daelim Industrial will shut two of its high-density polyethylene ((hdPE) lines, each of 120 000 tonne/year, for maintenance from end-October to mid-November. The company has a total hdPE capacity of 380 000 tonne/year.

The shutdowns have been timed to coincide with the turnaround at South Korea's Yeochun Naphtha Cracker Centre's (YNCC) No 3 cracker, which begins on 20 October and will last for 45 days. This shut down is again for maintenance, but also to raise the capacity of the cracker to 380 000 tonne/year from 350 000 tonne/year. YNCC is a joint venture between Daelim and Hanwha Chemical.
