SINGAPORE (CNI)—Korea Kumho Petrochemicals on Thursday restarted its 300 000 tonne/year styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) plant at Ulsan, South Korea, after the completion of a scheduled maintenance shutdown. The plant was shut on 10 October.
A source at the South Korean petrochemical producer told CNI that production at the plant will be raised to 100% over the next two days. He declined to disclose what the facility's current operating rate is.
Kumho is now operating at full capacity its 175 000 tonne/year polystyrene (PS), 90 000 tonne/year expandable polystyrene (EPS) and 200 000 tonne/year acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) plants in the same complex after a 20-day maintenance shutdown. These plants were restarted on Tuesday (30 October).
