LONDON (CNI)--German chemicals group BASF confirmed on Tuesday that its polystyrene (PS) units at Ludwigshafen, Germany and Antwerp, Belgium will continue to operate at an average rate of 75% in January next year.
The company announced last month a 25% cut in production capacity for the rest of the fourth quarter this year. A spokeswoman told CNI the reduction in capacity is due to weak demand for PS.
The Ludwigshafen site has a capacity of 320 000 tonne/year and Antwerp has a 220 000 tonne/year capacity.
