LONDON (CNI)--US-based Eastman Chemical said on Thursday the capacity expansion of its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in San Roque, Spain is now scheduled to take place in the first half of this year.
The company had previously said the expansion would take place at the end of last year. No explanation was given for the altered schedule.
A source at the company told CNI the debottlenecking would bring the capacity of the plant to 140 000 tonne/year from the current 120 000 tonne/year.
Separately, Eastman recently completed the capacity expansion of its PET plant in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, bringing its capacity to 140 000 tonne/year from the previous 120 000 tonne/year. The debottlenecking took about three weeks in October and the process was completed in November.
