LONDON (CNI)--Cray Valley, the resins division of Franco-Belgian chemicals company Atofina, said Tuesday that production of some special ultra violet (UV) curable resins at its Villers St Paul site in northwest France will be curtailed for the next few weeks following a fire earlier this month.

Christophe de Saint Louvent, Cray Valley's general manager for photocure activities, told CNI that the fire occurred in the photocure part of the plant on 2 January.

"No-one was injured or taken to hospital; it was not a major incident," he said.

However, de Saint Louvent said the fire had damaged electrical cabling and equipment, forcing cutbacks in production. He declined to quantify the output cutbacks but said it would take a few weeks and probably until around the end of February before repairs could be completed and production returned to normal.
