DSM builds Euro12m food applications lab in Delft, Holland

LONDON (CNI)--Dutch chemicals, performance materials and life sciences group DSM announced plans on Wednesday to build a new applications development laboratory for food specialties and bakery ingredients.

The Euro12m ($10.6m) facility, to be built in Delft, Holland, is due for completion in the third quarter of 2003.

DSM said the new laboratory will accommodate over 100 application specialists and product developers, most of whom are working at different locations in Delft and Zaandam, also in Holland.

It added that the concentration of all food ingredients research and development (R&D) activities in a single new laboratory will improve efficiency and boost innovation.

The new laboratory will include facilities for producing a wide range of foodstuffs on a small scale for the purpose of testing food ingredients.
