LONDON (CNI)--BASF and Basell have closed their joint venture styrene plant in Wesseling, Germany because of a global drop in demand for styrene and styrenic polymers, BASF announced on Tuesday.
The 410 000 tonne/year plant first started producing over 30 years ago, and covered part of BASF's styrene requirements in Europe.
Germany-based BASF said the plant was closed at the end of 2001.
