HOUSTON (CNI)--Solvay Advanced Polymers (SAP) said Thursday it has completed the appointment of top managers for the engineering polymers business acquired last year from BP, naming Russell DeLuca as vice president for marketing and sales and Carl Widerquist vice president for operations, effective immediately.

Alpharetta, Georgia-based SAP also announced the appointment of Jean-Michel Detournay as vice president for finance, also effective immediately.

DeLuca will direct the company's worldwide marketing, sales and technical service resources. Previously he served as sales and marketing manager for the BP Amoco engineering polymers unit sold to Solvay.

Widerquist is to direct SAP's worldwide manufacturing operations. He joined Solvay Polymers in 1979 as a maintenance engineering group leader and most recently served as vice president for manufacturing at Solvay Interox at Deer Park, Texas.

In addition to managing SAP's global financial operations, Detournay will be responsible for SAP's IT environment, the company said. He joined SAP's parent company, Solvay SA of Brussels, Belgium in 1985 as an IT analyst.
