SINGAPORE (CNI)--Toray Industries is carrying out a study on expanding its 6000 tonne/year polyester film plant in Yizheng, Jiangsu, China, to 30 000 tonne/year, a company spokesman told CNI on Thursday.
The spokesman added the company had yet to decide on specific details such as a timeframe for the expansion.
The polyester film plant, operated by Yihua Toray Polyester Film, is a 50:50 joint venture between Toray and the Yihua Group China.
The spokesman said the expansion was needed to meet rising demand from the Chinese electronic materials sector. He estimated demand from the local electronic material sector would grow by 10% annually for the foreseeable future.
