SAN ANTONIO, Texas (CNI)--Another major round of restructuring in BP’s US chemicals operations will be announced shortly, CNI was told here Monday by Andrew Mackenzie, group vice president - chemicals for BP America.
The cutbacks, on which Mackenzie declined to elaborate, are a manifestation of BP’s global plans, confirmed by Chemicals chief executive Byron Grote last month, to lose almost 15% of its workforce, or 2000 jobs, between mid-2001 and the beginning of 2003.
Mackenzie was talking on the sidelines of the 27th annual International Petroleum Conference (IPC) which is sponsored by the National Petrochemicals & Refiners Association (NPRA) and ends tomorrow.
