SINGAPORE (CNI)--PetroChina subsidiary Lanzhou Petrochemical has broken ground for an 8000 tonne/year C5 petroleum resin project in Lanzhou, Gansu, China.
A PetroChina source said the project, which is expected to come onstream by early 2003, will be China's second largest C5 petroleum resin plant.
The largest C5 petroleum resin plant in China, a joint venture between Eastman Chemical and Yangzi Petrochemical, is an 18 000 tonne/year facility in Nanjing, Jiangsu.
Lanzhou's project will source feedstock from its nearby 200 000 tonne/year cracker.
