LONDON (CNI)--UK firm Huntsman Tioxide said Tuesday it has launched two separate, sell-side e-commerce initiatives aimed at cutting customers' costs.
The first, in collaboration with KPMG, uses SAP Business Connector software that creates a "window" to the internet, allowing customers to transmit and receive business documents in electronic format. The second initiative is to build a web-shop using the mySAP CRM internet sales software.
Commenting on the first initiative, Ian Machin, Huntsman Tioxide's information technology (IT) director, said: "Using SAP as our backbone enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, we have developed the capability to transact with customers seamlessly, and have demonstrated this ability in a pilot project with a major European customer. We now will move ahead with the development of more complete business models to ensure that we remain on the cutting edge of this technology".
E-commerce project manager Mike Pointon, said the web-shop will enable customers to place orders "round-the-clock" over a secure web-based environment, and monitor order status and financial status of account. "We plan to launch the initiative in Europe in October of this year, and eventually to roll it out globally," he stated.
Huntsman Tioxide is part of US-headquartered Huntsman International.
