Celanese raises acetic acid, VAM, ethyl acetate prices

LONDON (CNI)--Celanese is to raise prices for acetic acid, acetic anhydride, vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and ethyl acetate.

The German chemicals producer said in a statement received Tuesday that from 1 July its selling prices for acetic acid will increase globally as follows:

  • Europe: Euro80/tonne for T2 material; $75/tonne for T1 material.
  • US, Canada: $66.12/tonne.
  • Asia, Australia: $50/tonne.
  • Mexico: $66.12/tonne.
  • South America: $66/tonne.

Prices for acetic anhydride prices will increase in Europe by Euro50/tonne, Celanese said.

VAM prices will increase, also from 1 July, as follows:

  • Europe, Turkey: Euro150/tonne for T2 material; $140/tonne for T1 material.
  • US, Canada: $44.08/tonne.
  • Asia, Australia, South America, Africa, Middle East: $50/tonne.
  • Mexico: $44.08/tonne.

Celanese also announced a Euro50/tonne price increase for ethyl acetate in Europe from 1 June.
