PARIS (CNI)--The European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) is bringing together its responsible care (RC), sustainable development and stakeholder dialogue teams.

Alain Perroy, Cefic's director general, said he has placed the existing management dealing with responsible care, staff responsible for sustainable development and those leading the dialogues with stakeholders into one department under the control of Utz Tillman - director of Cefic's Trust & Reputation programme.

Perroy was speaking here on Friday at Cefic's annual general assembly.

Cefic expects the new department to provide fresh approaches for the development of the tools and initiatives to create the synergies needed to address a more global approach to responsible care and sustainable development.

The Council hopes the department will contribute to ICCA (International Council of Chemical Associations) efforts at the upcoming Unep (United Nations Environment Programme) meeting in Johannesburg.
