DSM to lift Gelsenkirchen lldPE restriction within 7 days

LONDON (CNI)--Dutch chemicals, performance materials and life sciences group DSM said Tuesday that it hopes to lift its force majeure on linear low density polyethylene (lldPE) output from its site in Gelsenkirchen, Germany within the next week.

A company source told CNI that current production from the 350 000-370 000 tonne/year capacity facility is not stable. However, DSM hopes to achieve on spec output by the end of the week.

The force majeure on lldPE from Gelsenkirchen was declared early last month after low stocks exacerbated technical problems encountered at the plant overnight on 8/9 May.
