HOUSTON (CNI)--DuPont said Tuesday it expects its underlying earnings/share (eps) in the second quarter to be better than previously forecast, saying its eps will be around 65 cent/share instead of the earlier estimate of 55 cent.
DuPont attributed the improved outlook for the quarter ending 30 June to "higher sales across most of the DuPont reporting segments."
Wilmington, Delaware-based DuPont reported eps of 41 cent for its second quarter 2001 and 90 cent in the second quarter 2000.
The current First Call consensus estimate of DuPont eps for the just ending quarter is 41 cent/share.
DuPont will post its formal second quarter financial report on 24 July.
In addition, DuPont said it now expects to complete its evaluation of goodwill write-downs and will announce an unspecified non-cash impairment charge with its second quarter report.
