LONDON (CNI)--A new study by the European Commission (EC) has confirmed recent findings that low doses of bisphenol A (BPA) have no effects on childrens' development, it was claimed on Tuesday.

The European Chemical Industry Council's (Cefic) BPA sector group cited the opinion of the EC's Scientific Committee on Toxicity, Ecotoxicity and the Environment (CSTEE).

It said that this opinion is consistent with the recent views of the US Environment Protection Agency (EPA) and the Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW).

In reference to reproductive and developmental toxicity, the CSTEE supported that the no-observed-adverse-effect level (NOAEL) level of 50mg/kg/day, it added.
