LONDON (CNI)--Wintershall, the oil and gas division of German chemical major BASF, is promoting Rainer Steele to the post of management spokesman for Wingas and managing director of Wintershall Erdgas Handelshaus (WIEH).
Stelle moved from BASF to Wintershall in 1996 where he took over responsibility for strategic planning. He has headed the Wingas marketing division since August 2000.
He will take over from Burkhard Genge who retires on 16 August. Genge has been a member of the Wintershall board of directors since 1993 and in addition became management spokesman for Wingas and managing director of WIEH in 1998.
Wingas is a joint venture between Wintershall (65% interest) and Russian giant Gazprom. It markets natural gas through a pipe network totaling more than 1900 kilometres.
