Lauke to be BASF SEAsia’s new president on 1 Oct

SINGAPORE (CNI)--BASF South East Asia president Dr Werner Burgert will retire from 30 September 2002, to be replaced by Dr Harald Lauke, currently group vice-president for Performance Polymers in Asia.

Burgert joined BASF in 1967 as a project engineer and prior to his present assignment served as executive vice-president of BASF Corp and President of the Fibre Products Division in the United States.

In 2000, Burgert was appointed as a board member of the Economic Development Board (EDB), Singapore's national economic body.

The 43 year old Lauke was born in Berlin and joined BASF in 1986 as a research chemist in the Plastics Laboratory. Since then, he has held various positions before moving to Singapore as director for regional marketing for Engineering Plastics. He was promoted to group vice-president for Performance Polymers Asia Pacific in 2001.
