LONDON (CNI)--Sud-Chemie has expanded its catalyst works in Heufeld, near Rosenheim, Germany.
The German catalyst and absorbent group said at the opening of the extension on Monday that the Heufeld plant will be its central European research and production location for catalysts. It recently transferred catalyst production to the site from Moosburg, Germany.
Investment in the construction work, which began in 1998, amounted to over Euro35m ($34m). Capacity details were not disclosed.
Otto Wisheu, Bavaria’s Minister of Economic Affairs, said at the opening: “[This] investment in the catalyst plant and research facilities in Heufeld will ensure Sud-Chemie an excellent position in the years to come.”
Sud-Chemie said 64 jobs will be created in Heufeld but was unable to provide immediately current job numbers at the site.
