SINGAPORE (CNI)—Japan’s Teijin is aiming to start its new 5000 tonne/year industrial-grade polyester fibre line in Bangkok, Thailand, by the end of 2003, a company spokesman told CNI on Thursday.

Teijin has invested Yen1bn ($8.1m/Euro8.2m) for the new line which is currently under construction. The output of the new line will be used to produce seat belts and other industrial materials.

The company already operates a 5000 tonne/year polyester fibre line in Bangkok, with its output being used for non-automotive applications such as fishing nets and waterproof cloth backing.
