Greg MacIver has been named business director of US-based Ashland's newly created Foundry Binder Solutions business, which will focus on sand binder product lines and services.
Vice president and general manager Mike Swartzlander said the firm had expanded its strategic focus beyond sand binder products to the entire metal casting process.
Healthcare major AstraZeneca's executive vice president John Patterson will be assuming responsibility for business development when executive director Ake Stavling leaves the company at the end of January 2003 after four years in the post.
Stavling played a key role in the integration of Astra and Zeneca. From 1993 to 1999 he was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Astra AB.
German fertiliser and salt producer Kali und Salz has appointed Joachim Vogt to the executive board. He joins the company on 1 January 2003 and will be responsible for the consumer goods business.
Vogt was formerly chairman of the board at men's clothing retailer Hugo Boss. From 1999 he was chairman of the management of Steilmann group and a general manager at VOGT Unternehmensberatung.
Senior vice president and chief financial officer Allan Cole will retire from the Canadian methanol producer on 31 March 2003. Ian Cameron will step into the position effective 1 January 2003, giving a three-month overlap.
Cameron joined Methanex in 1993 and was appointed vice president, finance in 1999. He holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of British Columbia, US, and is a chartered accountant.
President and chief executive officer Pierre Choquette commented: 'The three month overlap between Ian's appointment and Allan's retirement will provide ample time to ensure an orderly transition in the leadership of our financial team.'
UK-based metalworking additives company Polartech has appointed Tim Langlois to head its US operation.
Langlois will be involved in the acquisition of the Petromix Metalworking emulsifier business from additive components supplier Crompton. A move which Polartech hopes will strengthen its market position in additives and packages in the US.
