LONDON (CNI)--European polyolefins producer Basell, a 50:50 joint venture between BASF and Shell, has been hit by several outages at its plants due to technical problems.A spokeswoman told CNI on Friday that Basell’s 320 000 tonne/year low density polyethylene (ldPE) plant went down yesterday and the outage is expected to last for about a week.
A 110 000 tonne/year ldPE line at Carrington, UK and a 250 000 tonne/year high density polyethylene (hdPE) unit in Wesseling, Germany have also gone down.
In addition, the 180 000 tonne/year PP plant at Brindisi, Italy is still down after a catalyst change.
