LONDON (CNI)--Anglo-Norwegian engineering group Aker Kvaerner announced Monday that its paper and pulp business has won two equipment contracts worth a combined Euro18m ($18.8m).In the first contract, Kvaerner will supply a Hybex power boiler to Paneles Arauco's power plant for a new mill in Itata, central Chile.
The boiler will use bubbling fluidised bed (BFB) technology and has a thermal capacity of 165 MW. It burns bark, grinding dust and plywood residue and will be ready for commissioning in autumn (Q3/4) 2004 when the Itata mill is brought into operation.
In the second contract, Kvaerner will supply a pressure diffuser to Oy Metsa-Botnia's mill in Finland. This represents an upgrade of the mill’s fiberline, said Kvaerner. The main erection will start during the summer and start-up is planned for September 2003.
