16 January 2003 10:08 [Source: ICIS news]LONDON (CNI)--European polyolefins producer Basell has declared force majeure on low density polyethylene (ldPE) supplies from its plants at Aubette, France and Carrington, UK, a spokeswoman confirmed to CNI on Thursday.
The 320 000 tonne/year plant at Aubette and a 110 000 tonne/year line at Carrington were shut last week due to technical problems.
The spokeswoman said the Aubette plant should be back up next week while operations at the Carrington line are set to resume in three weeks' time.Basell is a 50:50 joint venture between German chemicals group BASF and Anglo-Dutch energy and chemicals giant Shell.
