Heidelberg, Germany-based Hte, a company launched specifically to develop high throughput experimentation methods, as its name would suggest, for the discovery and optimisation of catalyst materials, has signed an agreement with Osaka-based BEL Japan to distribute its technology in Japan.Hte defines high throughput experimentation as an integration of advanced experimental and computational techniques, allowing R&D programmes to be completed within shorter time frames. The high throughput experimentation cycle couples design and model stages into the experimental stages of preparation, characterisation and evaluation. Techniques include combinatorial chemistry, high throughput screening, robotics and automation, advanced analytical methods and computer simulations.
Founded in March 1999, Hte established a US subsidiary in San Diego, California, in 2000 and has already announced strategic collaborations with BASF, Chevron Research and Technology and Degussa.
The agreement with BEL Japan, a manufacturer and distributor of adsorption and characterisation technologies, marks Hte's entry into the Asian market.
