MADRID (CNI)--Repsol-YPF invested Euro2.6m ($2.7m) in environmental upkeep of its domestic chemicals facilities last year, the Spanish energy and chemicals major told CNI on Wednesday.

The group said the investment was made at its main chemicals complex in Tarragona, northeast Spain. The bulk of that sum was spent mainly on desulphurisation processes at the site.

A spokeswoman said a more detailed breakdown of environmental investments at Repsol Chemicals, the group’s global chemicals division, was not yet available. The data are expected to be disclosed soon.

Repsol's spent far less on chemicals environmental investment than it did for its energy division. The total spent by the group on environmental upkeep was Euro149.9m.
