Monsanto, DuPont ink deal on 'YieldGuard' corn seed

HOUSTON (CNI)--US agricultural products giants Monsanto and DuPont announced an agreement Tuesday that will allow DuPont to license Monsanto's recently approved YieldGuard technology for production of corn seed resistant to rootworm.

The companies disclosed few details about the deal, noting only that DuPont's agricultural subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International (PHB) will receive a royalty-bearing license to the technology while Monsanto receives royalties and certain other payments from DuPont.

PHB's president, Rick McConnell, said the deal will allow PHB to provide its customers with new technology in PHB brand hybrids.

Monsanto is headquartered in St Louis, Missouri and DuPont is based in Wilmington, Delaware.
