LONDON (CNI)--The German Association of Plastics Manufacturers (Verband Kunststofferzeugende Industrie - VKE) has added two new members, CNI learned on Friday.

They are the Austrian association of the plastics industry (Kunststoffverband Osterreich - KV) and the scientific working group for plastic technology (Arbeitskreis Kunststofftechnik - WAK).

At a recent VKE general assembly, KV and WAK - whose members include numerous university professors - became new extraordinary members.

VKE said the move not only showed its commitment to promoting science in the polymer sector, it also underlines the fact that this commitment will be firmly embedded in the rules governing the organisation.

The importance attached to a strong involvement of WAK and KV is reflected in the fact that the VKE amended its statues specifically for the addition of these new members.

VKE also said the admission of KV will   further increase the co-operation between both organisations.

At the general assembly, VKE also made some changes to its board. Former members Ernst Schadow (Celanese), Elmar Deutsch (Dow) and Hubert Lutz (Atofina) have departed.

The newly appointed members are Lyndon Cole (Ticona), Norbert von Koczian (Dow, he had been co-opted already in autumn 2002), and Wulf Sauer (Atofina). Adolf Seidl (Solvay) is now on the VKE board as a permanent guest.
