HOUSTON (CNI)--Fine and custom chemicals manufacturer ChemPacific Corp said Thursday it will build a custom manufacturing facility at Shanghai, China, with production expected by early next year.
Baltimore, Maryland-based ChemPacific said the batch production facility will be built on a 20-acre site and will include storage and administrative space.
Cost of the project was not disclosed.
The plant will operate as part of ChemPacific's Chinese subsidiary, ChemPacific Hangzhou. It will have batch capacities of up to 100 tonne, the company said.
ChemPacific marketing director Jim Havlin said the company is moving forward with its expansion in China despite a global over-capacity in fine chemicals production. "There is still room to expand," Havlin said, "in more cost-efficient regions of the world such as China."
