BASF

BASF's vice chairman Eggert Voscherau has been appointed to the German council for sustainable development by Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder. For two years, Voscherau headed BASF's own sustainability council.

BCDTA

Douglas Leech has been given the job of technical manager for the British Chemical Distributors and Traders Association (BCDTA). He will provide advice and assistance to member companies on legal, regulatory and compliance issues.

GPC Biotech

The German biotechnology firm has appointed Prabhavathi Fernandes to its supervisory board. Fernandes has more than 25 years of experience in drug discovery development. She most recently served as chief executive officer of Ricerca Biosciences.

Henkel

Jochen Krautter, currently executive vice president for finance, is preparing to assume the leadership of Henkel Technologies when executive vice president Guido De Keersmaecker retires on 30 June. Lothar Steinebach will become the new executive vice president finance.

Krautter has been a member of the Henkel Group management board since 1992 and executive vice president finance since 2000.

Steinebach joined the Henkel Group as legal counsel in 1980. In 1995, he transferred to corporate finance and was appointed corporate vice president finance/controlling.

Henkel operates in the business areas of home care, personal care, adhesives and sealants & surface treatment.

Honeywell

Former Metglas Solutions leader, Whitney Erickson has been made vice president and general manager of the Research Life Science Solutions division of the diversified technology and manufacturing company.

Erickson commented: 'Further growth of this business will be partially organic, based on the unique technologies that exist at our facilities in Germany, Ireland and the US. Other opportunities will come from potential strategic acquisitions that fit our business model.'

PQ Corporation

Michael Imbriani has been named PQ Corporation president-chemicals group. He will have global responsibility for PQ's chemical operations and supply management and logistics.

Imbriani is a graduate of Queens College in New York and the Harvard Business School's advanced management programme. He joined PQ Corporation in 1973 and has held a number of executive positions including chief financial officer and president of PQ Europe.
