LONDON (CNI)--Dow Chemicals’ German olefins pipeline connecting Stade to Schkopau is expected to be operational at the end of this month, a spokeswoman told CNI on Friday.

Construction of the 365 km (228 mile) long bi-directional pipeline began about a year ago.

The pipeline will deliver ethylene and propylene from Dow's Stade, northern Germany, site to the company's Schkopau site in central Germany, where polyolefins are produced.

In addition to connecting two major Dow sites, the pipeline will ultimately link the firm's salt dome storage caverns in Teutschenthal, near Schkopau, and Ohrensen, near Stade.
