Air Products Installs System

Air Products and Chemicals Inc. has built and put into service its latest Prism nitrogen system, HPN series in Brunswick, Ga. The new standard high purity nitrogen assist plant was built for Hercules Inc.'s facility in Bruns-wick to replace an existing Air Pro-ducts system, which Hercules outgrew.

Zotefoams, Atofina To Develop PVDF-Based Foams

Zotefoams PLC and Atofina Chemicals Inc. have signed an exclusive agreement to share marketing and technical information toward the de-velopment of closed cell PVDF-based foams to meet market demand. The two companies will develop and sell PVDF-based closed-cell foams based on Atofina's HYNAR fluoropolymers.

BASF Names Distributor

BASF has appointed ChemPoint.com as its sole distributor for less-than-truckload quantities of HDO 1,6-Hexanediol in the US. HDO is a chemical intermediate used in the synthesis of polymeric systems and specialty chemicals. BASF has worked with ChemPoint on a number of product lines across several business groups.

Nanophase Technologies Issued US Patent

Nanophase Technologies Corp., says it was issued a US patent on Dec. 30 on its process for preparing nanostructured materials of controlled surface chemistry. The patent protects Nanophase's novel plasma nanoparticle processes to prepare nanocrystalline materials with highly controlled surface chemistry.

Dover Chemical Selects Distributors in US and Canada

Dover Chemical Corp. has appointed 14 core distributors to sell its products in the US and Canada. Dover streamlined its distribution channels to provide customers access to its market basket of additive products through one representative. Major markets served include lubricants, polymers and paints and coatings.

Arch Chemicals Receives Responsible Care Award

Arch Chemicals Inc.'s manufacturing plant in Rochester, N.Y., is one of the first plants in the US to be certified under the new Responsible Care RC 14001 standard that broadly covers performance in the realms of environmental quality, workplace health and safety, plant security and community outreach.
