LONDON (CNI)--Norwegian chemical shipping firm Odfjell is transferring the management of its small fleet serving the Caribbean and South America from Houston, Texas, to its head office in Bergen, Norway, which will result in the loss of five or six jobs.

The news, buried in the company's annual report released on Tuesday, was confirmed by Espen Bjelland, vice president of investor relations.

He told CNI that the transfer will be completed during spring (Q1/Q2). The fleet of five or six ships will continue to operate on the same routes and will offer the same level of service, Bjelland added.

The annual report said the change has occurred for "economic reasons". Bjelland said there are no plans for any other similar moves.

The fleet operates smaller ships within the Caribbean and larger vessels to and from the South American west coast.
