HOUSTON (CNI)--ABB/BASF has been selected by China National Bluestar to provide technology for a 30 000 tonne/year butadiene extraction plant in ?xml:namespace>
Engineering on the project has begun and start-up is expected in 2005.
The butadiene extraction unit will use ABB Lummus Global/BASF’s proprietary technology, which uses n-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) as a solvent. ABB says the solvent better enables the separation of butadiene from mixed butanes, resulting in a higher purity butadiene product and lower operating costs.?xml:namespace>
