Grace subsidiary buys chromatography supplier Alltech

HOUSTON (CNI)--WR Grace subsidiary Separations Group has acquired chromatography products manufacturer and supplier Alltech International Holdings for an undisclosed sum, the companies said Monday.
Company officials were not immediately available to respond to questions.

Said Fred Festa, president and chief operating officer of Grace in a statement: "This acquisition is an integral part of our strategy to grow in the materials-based separations business and significantly expands our product portfolio to better assist our customers in meeting the demands they have to innovate and improve their products."
He added that Grace has been building its separations business through internal growth and acquisitions.
Said Greg Poling, president of Grace Davison Specialty Materials: "This acquisition combines our 80 years of silica material and surface chemistry science expertise with Alltech's proven technology and demonstrated success in designing and producing chromatography products.”
Alltech has manufacturing facilities and research and development (R&D) laboratories in the
Grace of Columbia, Maryland is a global supplier of catalysts and silica products, specialty construction chemicals, building materials and sealants and coatings.
