Kuraray will invest $150m to double its ethylene vinyl alcohol (EVOH) copolymer resin production to 47 200 tonne/year in Pasadena, Texas, US, by March 2006.
An expansion is under way at Kuraray’s Belgium EVOH plant, and when coupled to this new expansion plan, the company’s total EVOH capacity will be 81 600 tonne/year.
Kuraray said in a statement that global demand for EVOH is increasing at a rate of 10% or more annually.
